These were taken last week before all the real winter weather came :-)
The distance between my village Furnace and the nearest town Machynlleth, is about 6 miles by road. But the road isn't the safest for walking and I prefer to take the longer route across the mountains, about 8 miles.
I was hoping for 2 things on my journey;
Firstly to find the wild horses, whose terrain I cross. Unfortunately there was no sign of them on this occassion.
Secondly, the route brings me back down towards the main road, about 2 miles outside Machynlleth, to the little village of Derwenlas where the Black Lion Inn is situated. I had set off on my journey with enough coinage to take a little light refreshment at the establishment I have not yet frequented...imagine my disappointment!
The lesson...simple,
Don't walk to Mach on a Monday ;-)
